Recent Reno Police Graffiti Case Convictions Bring Severe Penalties
The City of Reno and the Reno Police Department is committed to tracking, apprehending and prosecuting graffiti vandals in our area. Two defendants who were apprehended by Reno Police Departments Graffiti Detectives and prosecuted by the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office were recently found guilty of graffiti.

Reno Police see Increase in Burglaries when Residents Leave Garage Doors Open
With hot summer temperatures in the forecast for the next several weeks, some residence in Northern Nevada are tempted to leave their garage doors open and unattended to keep their garage ventilated. Unfortunately criminals know this and Reno PD has had an increase in reports of items being stolen from garages in our area.

23 People Arrested for Suspicion of DUI over Extended 4th of July Weekend
The night of June 30th, 2017 began the extended 4th of July weekend for many within Reno and Northern Nevada. Over the past 5 days, the Reno Police Department arrested 23 people for suspicion of driving under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. Of the arrests made by Reno PD from June 30th to July 4th, 19 people were arrested for DUI alcohol, 3 were for suspicion of DUI with Marijuana, and 1 was for suspicion of Methamphetamine. Two of the people arrested were involved in crashes which did not result in any major injuries being reported.

Reno Police remind residents about recreational marijuana regulations
Recreational marijuana will be available for sale to the general public in the City of Reno on or after July 1, 2017, once the Department of Taxation approves the state retail license. City officials and the Reno Police Department would like to remind residents about laws in place that dictate the places people can, and cannot, use recreational marijuana.

Reno Police to Increase Enforcement Operations of Illegal Street Racing
Over the last two years, the Reno Police Department (RPD) has responded to over 700 calls for service from concerned citizens related to illegal street racing. These illegal races have been the cause of numerous citizen complaints as well as several deaths from vehicle crashes. RPD has conducted numerous operations to catch and stop street racing; however Reno Police still continue to get reports of illegal street racing throughout our city.

Reno Police Joining Forces with Local Agencies to Focus on Aggressive Drivers
The Reno Police Department is partnering with two dozen law enforcement agencies statewide as they will be Joining Forces to crack down on drivers exceeding speed limits or driving too fast for road conditions. This Joining Forces campaign began on June 10 and will go through June 28, 2017 as law enforcement agencies work together in an effort to save lives and slow drivers down.

On Friday June 2, 2017 the Street Vibrations Spring Rally kicks off the first of many on the large special events that will be in Reno and the Truckee Meadows this summer. The Reno Police Department is expecting increased crowds and lots of motorcycles in our area during this 3-day event.

Reno Police Continue To See Trends in Older Vehicle Thefts
Over the last several months the Reno Police Department has noticed a trend in the thefts of older motor vehicles in our area. Some of the most reported stolen vehicles continue to be 90’s model Honda passenger cars, and older SUV’s and pickup trucks.

On Monday, May 1, 2017 at 7 p.m., City officials will gather with Reno Police, law enforcement agencies from northern Nevada and surviving family members of officers who have been killed in the line of duty as the Reno Arch turns blue in recognition of National Law Enforcement Memorial Month. Big crowds gather peacefully for Reno Women’s March on Washington
The Reno Police Department estimates that about 10,000 people marched in downtown Reno on Saturday, January 21, 2017 as part of the Reno Women’s March on Washington. The event was peaceful, and police made no arrests.
