Vegetation Herbicide Application Spray Schedule

Public Notice: The Maintenance and Operations Department has completed their summer spray program in areas 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 to manage invasive weeds in drainage areas. As of July 3, 2024, all areas are complete.

The City of Reno Maintenance and Operations Department (City) and Resource Concepts Inc. are currently in the process of reviewing its vegetation management practices to ensure that the practices are conducted in a responsible, safe and effective manner through the use of Best Management Practices (BMPs). The City is tasked with the continuous management of vegetation growth throughout its extensive network of infrastructure including: drainage conveyances, detention basins, high hazard dams, roadway shoulders, medians, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. The City applies herbicides at approximately 1,390 separate locations covering approximately 11,500,000 square feet.

The goal of this effort is to manage the growth of the desired vegetation by controlling the undesired vegetation. The City uses BMPs that maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws within the City's service territory. Benefits include lessening the impact in flood events, maintaining normal ecological processes, enhancing wildlife habitat & forage, reducing soil erosion, maintaining property value, enhancing recreational opportunities, decreasing structural damage to buildings and roads, and reducing City maintenance costs.
