Regional Collaborations
The Regional Infrastructure Department coordinates the long range infrastructure planning within the City of Reno and Northern Nevada region to address new growth and replacement of existing infrastructure. Collaborates with regional partners such as Washoe County, City of Sparks, Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA), Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, Reno Sparks Indian Colony, the University of Nevada, Reno, Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency, Truckee River Flood Management Authority, Northern Nevada Water Planning Commission, and the Western Regional Water Commission along with other partners to plan and implement infrastructure projects for the region. Through regional collaboration and identification of projects, grants are actively being pursued through the once in a generation funding of the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act passed by Congress in 2021.

Grant Awards
The City of Reno has been awarded community funding grants, previously known as earmark funding, in the amount of $5.5 million for fiscal year 2022 & 2023. The City is still awaiting notification of fiscal year 2024 awards.
- $3M joint award with the City of Sparks to fund an electrical upgrade and redundancy project at the community’s largest wastewater treatment facility, Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF)
- $3M joint benefit award with TMWA for the Advanced Purified Water Project
- $1M to fund a Phase 1 sewer project for the area known as Island 8, which is one of the last remaining areas on septic systems within the City of Reno
- $1.5M for the Booth Street Sewer Syphon project
