As a result of the Nevada Supreme Court decision rendered on September 12, 2019, misdemeanor domestic violence cases qualify for a jury trial. Andersen (Christopher) vs. District Court (City of Las Vegas) 135 Nev. Adv. Op. No. 42 September 12, 2019.
Jury Summons
There are three courts in the downtown Reno area that may all be conducting a jury trial. To know if you must report to the Reno Municipal Court (1 South Sierra Street, go left after security), you would have received a violet jury summons postcard in the mail. You will receive an appearance notification card approximately 10 days before your reporting date from Reno Municipal Court. Please read the instructions on the postcard carefully.
Terms of Service
On your reporting day, please be prepared to be at the courthouse when it opens at 7:30 a.m. The Reno Municipal Court is a one-day/one-trial jury system. This means that if you are not selected as a juror, your service will be completed in one day. Juror selection may take 1 to 3 hours. If you are selected as a juror, you must report each day until the trial is complete. The average trial length in Washoe County is 2 – 3 days.
Jurors are required to phone in to 775-393-4500 for recorded instructions starting on the Thursday night prior to the jury trial. You may be required to call for reporting information over a two-week period, however you will only serve for one trial. Once your juror obligation is complete, you are released for a period of two (2) years.
Parking
If you have received a juror summons card from the Reno Municipal Court, parking will be validated at The Parking Gallery, located at 135 N. Sierra Street. The entrance is off 1st Street, across from the movie theater.
Please make sure to bring your parking stub into court to receive validation.
Jurors are responsible for any parking citations received

The temperature of the court may fluctuate, so please dress accordingly.
General Information
Please do not bring your children to court. You need to make personal, family, and business arrangements prior to reporting in order to fulfill your requirement of jury service.
You may bring your own drinking water or water bottle or food to eat, but glass containers are not allowed. Breaks and lunch times will be determined by the court. There are many restaurants in the area. The court also has a refrigerator and microwave available for juror use.
You may bring reading material to occupy your time while you are not in court. Local newspapers are not allowed because they may contain information about a pending trial.
