Contact Vicki Van Buren

Vicki Van Buren was appointed as Director of Finance on June 15, 2022. Van Buren started with the City of Reno in October 2016 as a Senior Management Analyst responsible for the City-wide budget development. In January 2019, she was promoted to Administrative Services Manager for the Finance Department where she assumed additional management responsibilities and continued to manage the budget. In July 2021, she was promoted to Assistant Finance Director.

Van Buren has an extensive municipal background. She previously served four years as the Chief Fiscal Officer for Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and almost seven years as the Deputy Finance Director for the City of Hanford, California. Prior to entering the public sector, Van Buren worked more than 10 years in private sector accounting.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of West Florida (Pensacola, Florida) in 1992.
