Reno Municipal Court Administrator
Lopez assumed the office of Court Administrator beginning on September 9, 2022. She has oversight responsibility for all functions of the 50-person Court, which includes operations, technology, finances, security and Specialty Courts. The Court Administrator also provides support to the Municipal Court Judges. Reno Municipal Court processes over 21,000 cases each year and maintains a specialty court docket of 4 distinct programs.
Lopez joined Reno Municipal Court in 2005, serving as Judicial Executive Assistant to the Honorable Kenneth Howard. She managed Department Four’s operations and helped establish the Fresh Start Therapeutic Court for DUI offenders and Kids’ Court to teach youngsters about the judicial system.
After collaborating with Judge Tammy Riggs to write a successful grant application, in 2017 she was promoted to Court Project Coordinator, tasked with setting up operations and managing Reno’s first Community Court for homeless and downtown offenders. She also co-authored the first grant for CAMO Court, the first misdemeanor Veteran’s Court in Northern Nevada.
In 2019, Ms. Lopez was promoted to Court Program Manager, responsible for funding and grant compliance for all five of the Court’s expanding Specialty Court programs. Under Lopez’s leadership, Reno Municipal Court has secured federal and state grant funds totaling more than $1.2 million to support and enhance services provided by the Court’s specialty programs.
Before coming to Reno Municipal Court, Lopez served 13 years as a certified paralegal, first with the Nye County District Attorney’s office, then with various Reno and Carson City law firms. The Institute of Court Management has recognized her as a Court Management Professional (CMP) and will award her the Certified Court Executive (CCE) designation in December. Lopez is also a member of the National Association of Court Management.
