FAQ's
- How do I know when registration opens? Ask the front desk or email SwimLessons@Reno.Gov to be on our swim lesson notification list. Each season, we send this list all they need to know regarding upcoming registration. We also send this info to the prior season’s waitlist and enrollees, but it’s good to be on the list just in case!
- How do I know what level to enroll my child in? Reference the swim lesson level guide for assistance. If you’re still unsure, reach out to us at SwimLessons@Reno.Gov to schedule a free assessment. If you’re currently enrolled, feel free to inquire with your instructor!
- I’m missing a lesson, can I schedule a make up or be refunded? Prorated refunds or make up sessions for missed dates are not possible for group lessons. If you are going to miss multiple dates, we recommend requesting a full refund and enrolling a different time to make the most of your lesson. If you have a private lesson and let us know ahead of time, adjustments and make ups can sometimes be possible.
- I need to cancel my session, how do I and can I be refunded? If you need to cancel your session, please let us know prior to the first day of lessons so we can contact the waitlist. However, refunds can be requested by the second class meeting date by emailing SwimLessons@Reno.Gov, or filling out a “refund request form” at the front desk. A $10.00 admin fee will apply to any card or check refund.
- What if I enroll my child in the same level all season, then they pass the level midway through? If you’re child is already enrolled in lessons for the session and we have determined they need to move up a level, we will make that adjustment internally and accommodate them in the appropriate level. Times may be adjusted slightly depending on the level and the available meeting times.
- My child has a disability and does not do well in group lessons, are there other options? The City of Reno recently started offering Adaptive Swim Lessons. To participate, you'll need to fill out an Assessment and Accommodation form. Email SwimLessons@Reno.Gov for more info.
