The City of Reno and Volunteers of America (VOA) are proud to present Reno Works, an innovative workforce development program where people experiencing homelessness can gain workforce development skills.

How the Program Works

  • The program is designed to model a workweek (Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm).
  • Reno Works crews work directly with the City of Reno Public Works and Parks & Recreation Departments to facilitate cleanup projects and complete maintenance work along the Truckee River, in downtown, and in parks and other City facilities.
  • On the days they aren’t working, participants spend time in workshops, job searching, and looking for housing.
  • Upon program completion, graduates receive housing assistance and continuing case management support.
  • Since 2015, 95 graduates have completed the Reno Work Program!
