Appointments are available and highly recommended. Walk-in candidate filing will be accepted, however, appointments will be taken and processed first.

Candidate Qualifications

Councilmembers

• Must be a resident of the City of Reno and an actual resident of the ward they represent for at least 30 days prior to the last date for candidate filing.
  • Councilmembers elected by ward must continue to live within that ward for the term of office.
• Must be a qualified elector within the City.

2024 Primary and General Elections Information

Presidential Preference Primary Elections

• Presidential Preference Primary Election: Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
  • Early Voting, Saturday January 27 through Friday, February 2, 2024.

June Primary Elections

• Primary Election: Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
  • Early Voting, Saturday May 25 through Friday, June 7, 2024.

• City of Reno City Council Primary Canvassing: Friday, June 21, 2024.

November General Elections

• General Election: Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
  • Early Voting, Saturday October 19 through Friday, November 1, 2024.

• City of Reno City Council General Canvassing: Friday, November 15, 2024.
