The OneWater Nevada Advanced Purified Water Facility (APWF) at American Flat, a joint effort by the City of Reno and Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA), offers regional long-range water supply sustainability benefits. This project will take recycled water from the Reno-Stead Water Reclamation Facility and put it through a state-of-the-art advanced water purification process, producing clean, safe, purified water that meets or exceeds state and federal drinking water standards.

The resulting Category A+ Advanced Purified Water will be recharged into the groundwater aquifer at American Flat and stored for initial use in agricultural irrigation. In the future, after further extensive testing and evaluation, it is intended to be used to enhance our regional potable water supply. The new APWF will be located across from the Reno-Stead Water Reclamation Facility at Lear Boulevard and Military Road, and the Polishing Facility will be near the American Flat Farm, north of the Reno-Stead Airport.

The OneWater Nevada team is currently in the design process for the APWF with the expectation of breaking ground on the project in spring 2025. Construction should last about two and a half years followed by several years of advanced treatment testing, groundwater injection, irrigation use, and water quality monitoring.
