Professional Biography
In November 2024, Miguel Martinez was elected to serve as the Council Member for Ward 3. Known for its rich history, Ward 3 represents a variety of services and constituents including the Wells Avenue Business District, the CARES campus, Greater Nevada Field, and a large segment of the Truckee River. It also consists of two of the three City of Reno Parks facilities including the Teglia’s Paradise Park Activity Center and the Neil Road Recreation Center.
Previously, Miguel spent a decade as an educator. During that time Miguel worked at Truckee Meadows Community College and Virginia Tech. These opportunities amassed direct services to students, improving education attainment gaps, expanding accessibility to higher education, and developing a stronger sense of community.
A Reno native, Miguel earned an Associate of Arts from Truckee Meadows Community College, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs from Virginia Tech. In his spare time, Miguel enjoys spending time with his wife and two loving young girls, golfing, and partaking in outdoor activities.
With a strong track record of administration and coordination, Miguel brings a unique lens to the issues facing Reno constituents and has worked with the citizens of Ward 3 to provide access to City processes and programs for all residents.
