Beat the Heat

Extreme heat is a hazard facing residents in Northern Nevada during the summer months. Extreme heat refers to temperatures that are above the average high temperature and last for prolonged periods of time.

Exposure to high temperatures for excessive periods of time can be very dangerous and some persons are at greater risk including older adults, young children, and persons with health conditions such as heart disease or asthma.

During hot weather, never leave pets or children unattended in vehicles!

For information on preventing and protecting yourself from heat-related illnesses visit the Washoe County Health District's website.
