The City of Reno and Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada (VOA-NCNN) invite the media and public to a graduation ceremony for the 18th class of the Reno Works program on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Reno City Hall Council Chambers. The latest Reno Works session began on August 28th, 2023.
The 12-week program provides a committed group of people experiencing homelessness with classes focused on life and job skills by offering mock interviews and job searches. The program also provides temporary employment modeling a work week (Monday – Friday 8 am -5 pm) through community improvement projects including working in area parks, improving public facilities, and cleaning along the river corridor.
Upon graduation, the participants receive housing assistance and continuing case management support. Since 2015, 120 graduates have completed the Reno Work Program with a graduation rate of about 84% among all participants.
This life-changing program is made possible through the support of generous donations from our local community. To donate to the Reno Works program, visit voa-ncnn.org/RenoWorksDonate.
