At its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, the Reno City Council will consider a proposed ordinance to license massage establishments as privileged activity. The proposed amendments include creating a privilege license for massage establishments, background checks for massage establishment licensees, and minimum operational standards. The Council will also consider acceptance of the related business impact statement (BIS), which was prepared following a public workshop and comment period to gather feedback from the community.

Adoption of the ordinance is scheduled to be considered at the Feb. 26, 2020 City Council meeting. The City Council meetings are held at Reno City Hall, Council Chamber, 1 East First Street, Reno, NV 89501 and can be viewed online at Reno.Gov/Meetings.

The City of Reno is seeking input on a potential ordinance to license massage establishments as privileged activity under Reno Municipal Code (RMC).
The proposed amendments include creating a privilege license for massages establishments, background checks for massage establishment licensees, and minimum operational standards. The community is invited to review the draft amendments to RMC below:
A public workshop to review the proposed changes and provide comments is scheduled for Monday, November 18, 2019, at 5:30 PM in the Reno Council Chambers, 1 East First Street, Reno, NV, 89501.
If you are unable to attend, any comments or arguments must be submitted in writing to the Business License Division by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at businesslic@reno.gov.
