Parks and Rec Specialist Band IV
Positions in this band have considerable technical prerequisites. Work tasks require knowledge,
skills and abilities typically obtained through education/certification programs.
Work Schedule
● Less than 233 hours per quarter and may be year round or
● 233 hours or more in a quarter with a maximum of six months employment or
● Not to exceed 1,039 work hours within any fiscal year
Essential Functions & Tasks
Include, but are not limited to:
● Oversees assigned staff, staff schedules and prioritizes work assignments.
● Monitors facility and event venue conditions and resolves discrepancies.
● Enforces policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of patrons and staff.
● Coordinates a variety of recreational programming and facility usage.
● Schedules recreation programs, sports leagues and tournaments
● Assists in set up/dismantle and supervision of various events and facility activities.
● Provides light maintenance and events require trash pick-up and removal.
● Greets customers, provides program information, resolves issues and refers questions to
appropriate staff.
● Interfaces with permit holders, event producers, rental customers and facility patrons.

Working Conditions
● Walking on various surfaces including uneven ground that may be slippery.
● Work performed outdoors in a variety of weather.
● Lifting, moving or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances.
● Conveys and exchanges verbal and written information.
● Alcohol may be present at events which necessitate interaction with event organizer to ensure it
stays within event boundaries.
● Work on weekends, evenings and holidays required.
Minimum Qualifications
Age: 21
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Three year paid employment; two years paid supervisory employment
Licenses: Valid driver’s license
