Downtown is a concept, not a location. Downtown is anywhere, in any town. It’s where ideas flourish when artists mingled. The Downtown School. The Downtown Group. New ideas were born. The style was edgy and new and not widely accepted as art.
Join the Downtown Modernists in their artist introduction to the community. Founded in Reno, Nevada, in February 2023, Downtown Modernists is a newly formed group of artists hailing from the Reno-Sparks and Truckee-Tahoe areas working primarily in the abstract style who are seeking to build a coalition of like-minded artists for monthly salons, group shows, and the exchange of ideas. Their goal is to bring their art to local audiences yearning for original, modern, and contemporary paintings.
This group show by the Downtown Modernists features artists Susan Christopher, Joanna Drakos, Jutta Gietl, Ashley Gottlieb, April Gratrix, and Andreau Laue.
Join local artists for their artist reception, Tuesday, July 9th from 5pm to 7pm. The show runs from June 17th to July 26th.
