Bike Clubs

  • Bike Like a Girl: Bike Like a Girl is about empowerment and inclusion. Through the simple act of riding a bike, they provide skills that set girls up for success and allow them to tackle any challenge life gives them.  
  • Procrastinating Pedalers of Reno-Tahoe!: Northern Nevada's largest group of bicycling enthusiasts dedicated to promoting safe, non-competitive, recreational bicycle riding and healthy lifestyles in a fun, social atmosphere.
  • Reno Wheelmen (women welcome): Since 1896, they carry on the tradition of camaraderie and achievement through sport and promoting the sport of cycling throughout the Reno-Tahoe area.
  • Reno-Tahoe Junior Club: Strives to foster healthy, active lifestyles in our community’s youth through responsible and sustainable outdoor recreation, using the great sport of cycling.
  • UNR Cycling Team: For University of Nevada, Reno graduate or under-grads, the team promotes all disciplines of cycling, to support club members in achieving their personal cycling goals, to have fun, as well as to travel and work as a team.

Local Organizations

  • Nevada Bicycle Coalition: A participatory organization promoting bike advocacy, and making Nevada a “Bicycle Friendly” state.
  • Poedunk: An IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) affiliated club focused on building, maintaining and riding sustainable single-track on Peavine in partnership with Washoe County, US Forest Service, City of Reno and other user groups.
  • Reno Bike Project: A 501(c)(3) non-profit community bicycle shop and resource for the Truckee Meadows committed to creating a nationally recognized, cycling-friendly community through education, cooperation and advocacy.
  • Kiwanis Bike Program: A service committee of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Sparks. Volunteers teach bike safety and repair, and donate the majority of bikes they refurbish to youth organizations and schools in Northern Nevada.
  • Truckee Meadows Bicycle Alliance: TMBA is a group of organizations and individuals dedicated to promoting safe bicycle commuting in the Truckee Meadows to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion, promote good health, safety and inspire others to ride. 

Advocacy & Infrastructure

Local and State

  • Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County: All RTC RIDE and RTC INTERCITY buses are equipped with racks to hold two or three bicycles. RTC offers bikes on buses information. RTC also developed our community’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan, which supports walking and bicycling through an integrated system of safe, convenient and comfortable bicycle, pedestrian and other non‐motorized facilities that provide access to schools, jobs, shopping, neighborhoods, community facilities, parks and regional trails.
  • Nevada Bicycle Advisory Board: Their mission is to promote and coordinate bicycle safety and facilities in Nevada and to integrate such programs into the operations and policies of appropriate agencies.

National

  • League of American Bicyclists: Their mission is to promote bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation and work through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America.
  • North America Bikeshare Association: NABSA connects the biggest minds in bikeshare to support, promote and enhance bikeshare across North America. 
  • Shared Mobility Center: A public-interest organization working to foster collaboration in shared mobility (including bikesharing, carsharing, ridesharing and more) and help connect the growing industry with transit agencies, cities and communities across the nation.
