Connect with Reno's parks, natural spaces, and community through free, Ranger-led programs and activities. The City of Reno Rangers offer opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to explore the outdoors, learn about the natural environment, and build connections with our local parks.

The City of Reno's Junior Ranger program is a ranger-led, interpretive event where all members of the public may engage with local parks and the community to further development of four (4) core values in local youth: stewardship, protection, respect, and community.
- The City of Reno's Junior Ranger program occurs twice a month.
- The program includes a self-guided program guide and free public events.
- To become a Junior Ranger, participants complete the program guide and attend an event in each of the six wards of Reno. Once these goals are met, participants are invited to be sworn in as a "Jr. Ranger” at the next ranger-led event.
- Once sworn in as a Jr. Ranger, participants receive a badge and access to more ranger-led events.
- The Junior Rangers have hosted events like fishing, hiking, stargazing, biking, birding, and more!
- Each event’s topic is supported through interactive activities designed to offer tactile, movement-based or dialogic learning opportunities to guests.
- The City of Reno's Reno Ranger Walks are free, ranger-led, interpretive walks designed to offer enjoyable, educational opportunities in Reno’s parks.
- Our Reno Ranger Walks occurs twice a month.
- Each walk is intended to be accessible to all members of the community. Please reach out to us directly if you require reasonable accommodations to participate.
This free series of walks is designed to be inclusive and accessible to
- Individuals with limited mobility,
- Individuals living with dementia,
- Care partners,
- All members of the community.
Reno’s 'Walk with Us’ walks will guide participants through the changes of seasons.
Participants may meet at the James D. Hoff Peace Officer’s Memorial to begin the 1 hour guided excursion. Please reach out to us directly if you require reasonable accommodations to participate.
The Walk with Us walk series is a part of a collaborative effort by the City of Reno and Dementia-Friendly Washoe County to expand opportunities for community engagement and overall improved wellness for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.
