As Parks and Recreation Director, Nathan Ullyot will lead a team of over 430 and support the department’s 87 park facilities and wide range of activities including adaptive recreation, aquatics, athletics, and health and wellness. 

Nathan Ullyot was appointed to Director of Parks and Recreation in March of 2023.

Nathan joins the City of Reno with 22 years of experience working in parks and recreation with five different organizations in Arizona and Georgia.

His experiences in department administration, community centers, afterschool programming, aquatics, enrichment programming, and ranger training led him to become the City of Maricopa’s Community Services Director before joining the City of Reno.

Ullyot grew up on campgrounds in Oregon and Arizona and learned from a young age the importance of quality outdoor spaces and recreation programming. His parents were a camp and lodging director duo for 30+ years, encouraging people from all walks of life to experience the outdoors.
