Chase, Tracy

  • City Attorney
  • Chief Deputy City Attorney
  • (775) 334-2050

You can almost always find Tracy at City Council and other public meetings where she advises on meeting protocol, legal matters and application of law, including the City Charter.

Tracy became Chief Deputy in 2006 after over eight years with the City Attorney’s Office. She manages legal services provided by the Civil Division and represents the City Council, City Manager’s Office, Fire Department, Civil Service Commission, and other departments. Her main focus is the field of municipal law, complex transactions, risk, and emergency management.

One of the most rewarding parts of her job is assisting during major emergency incidents, including preparing Declarations of Emergency and emergency contracts, obtaining court orders and providing legal guidance. These services protect the City of Reno and its citizens by allowing access to emergency assistance and funding from local, state and federal governments. She has provided legal advice on many emergency incidents, including the Caughlin Fire of 2011 and the New Year’s Flood of 2006.

Prior to joining the City Attorney’s Office, Tracy was a commercial litigation attorney and shareholder with Hale, Lane, Peek, Dennison and Howard with a concentration in civil litigation, business law, contract law, and property law. She is also a former prosecutor for the Washoe County Deputy District Attorney’s Office and clerked for the Honorable James J. Guinan in the Second Judicial Court of the State of Nevada.
