Deanna is committed to use her marketing talents she garnered in both the public and private sector to make the City of Reno’s communications and community outreach the number one most effectively innovative government communications department.
Deanna leads a talented team in accomplishing proactive communications programs that help create awareness, and educate residents and visitors about City services, events, programs and initiatives. The Office of Communications and Community Engagement (OCCE) also supports other internal departments as an in-house full-service, collaborative communications agency.
Deanna was formerly the Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing for JMA Ventures, LLC, a full service real estate investment firm with more than $500 million in existing projects including holdings such as Alpine Meadows and Homewood Mountain Resorts. In conjunction with the team there, Deanna oversaw the re-branding of Alpine Meadows that led to one of the highest revenue-producing seasons in the history of the ski resort.
Prior to that, Deanna was the Executive Director of Marketing for seven years for the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority. She and the team there developed and executed an extensive and successful re-branding campaign for Reno-Tahoe to redirect public perception from a gaming destination to an indoor and outdoor adventure Mecca: America’s Adventure Place.
Deanna graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a degree in Journalism.
Among her honors and awards are: American Marketing Association Marketer of Year in 2003; the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Sierra Chapter Silver Spike and Judges Choice Award for the Reno River Festival (Grand Opening Event for Truckee River Whitewater Park) in 2004; the PRSA Silver Spike award in 2005 and 2006 for the Reno River Festival Public Relations Efforts/Results; the Best of Show Addy for Alpine Meadows website in 2009; and the Reno-Tahoe American Marketing Association ACE award for Alpine Meadows’ website in 2009.
Deanna formerly held positions on the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, and the Ski Lake Tahoe Board of Directors. She is also a former North Lake Tahoe Marketing Cooperative President.
When Deanna is not at work, you can find her at yoga classes or on a ski hill with her hubby, as long as the kids cooperate. She says her two small children dictate her daily priority list and while they are the most demanding bosses she has ever had, being mom is the best job in the world.
Deanna has contributed time and counsel to various organizations over the years. In recent years much of her focus has been on tourism-related volunteer positions. She hopes now to shift her focus to being more involved with youth and women’s leadership endeavors.
